Dr. Tyler Pollock is a Senior Scientist in the Environmental Health Science and Research Bureau at Health Canada. He leads operations of Canada’s National Biomonitoring Program through the Canadian Health Measures Survey (CHMS) – a survey similar in design and purpose to the United States National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES).
His research focuses on leveraging national biomonitoring data to improve our understanding of environmental chemical exposures in the Canadian population. This includes identifying disproportionately exposed populations, quantifying changes in exposures over time and in response to regulations, and exploring the links between exposures and indicators of health.
Recognizing the importance of international collaboration in exposure science, Tyler is especially interested in capacity-building initiatives and participated in the development of the World Health Organization’s Human Biomonitoring Basics Educational Course. Tyler also co-chairs the International Society of Exposure Science (ISES) International Human Biomonitoring (i-HBM) Working Group, which develops resources to promote the health-based interpretation of human biomonitoring data.
Tyler served as co-chair for the ISES 2026 Annual Meeting alongside fellow co-chairs and NEXUS Exposomics Coordinating Center leaders Dr. Rima Habre and Dr. Krystal Pollitt.
Together they discussed the conference theme and highlights in an episode of the NEXUS.

Fun Fact:
- During his graduate studies, Tyler completed a research practicum at the University of Havana in Cuba, where he and his colleagues found a rare albino bat on his first expedition into a cave!
